Ax.c is officially open: A new hub for Québec’s innovation scene

Montréal, June 9, 2025. Nearly 350 members of Québec’s entrepreneurial and tech ecosystem gathered today in downtown Montréal for the official inauguration of Ax.c, a 100,000 square-foot space dedicated to tech startups, located in the former trading floor of the Montréal Stock Exchange.

Ax.c already hosts more than one hundred organizations: startups, incubators, accelerators, investment funds, large companies, and innovation support organizations. In addition to offering private offices, coworking desks and event spaces, Ax.c aims to become a catalyst for strategic collaboration among the ecosystem’s key stakeholders.

The event highlighted the importance of such a space in the development of Québec’s innovation economy, with the participation of founding and building partners, as well as representatives from all three levels of government.

"Ax.c hub is a major space for our young technology companies and for the entire ecosystem. They play a key role in Québec’s economic vitality and entrepreneurship, and it is our duty to help them collectively to develop and to break into markets. Our government is very proud to have supported this ambitious initiative as part of the 2022-2027 Québec research and innovation investment strategy. Congratulations to all partners, and here’s to the thriving future of Ax.c!"

Christopher Skeete, Minister for the Economy, Minister Responsible for the Fight Against Racism and Minister Responsible for the Laval Region

"Our government is proud to support the opening of the Ax.c hub, right in the heart of Montréal. Thanks to the assistance from CED and other involved partners, our city will continue to be a hub of innovation and of the entrepreneurial spirit."

The Honourable Marc Miller, Member of Parliament for Ville-Marie—Le Sud-Ouest—Île-des-Sœurs, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for CED

"With the launch of Ax.c, Montréal is asserting itself more than ever as a world-class hub for tech startups and innovative entrepreneurship. This collective project, born from a shared commitment between public and private partners, will strengthen our entrepreneurial ecosystem, stimulate innovation, and significantly contribute to the city’s economic development. The City of Montréal is proud to support this initiative, which will help drive the success of our startups and tech entrepreneurs. These young companies represent the future of our economy and are a key pillar of our development strategy. Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this bold vision to life—Ax.c will be a powerful lever for Montréal’s future."
Luc Rabouin, Executive Committee Member Responsible for Economic Development and Higher Education, City of Montréal

"We are very happy to welcome our first tenants and kick off activities at Ax.c hub. This place is now coming to life thanks to the engagement of high-growth tech firms and key stakeholders for the support of innovative entrepreneurship. This long-awaited launch marks the completion of a long collective process and now allows us to fully focus on our mission: providing a vibrant gathering space where the tech startup ecosystem meets to maximize the efficiency of collaborations and the success of Québec startups."
Geneviève Leclerc, Director of Ax.c

Ax.c is an initiative of the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), made possible through the financial participation of the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy of Québec (MEIE), Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions, and the City of Montréal, in collaboration with its building partners: Bell, Google, Desjardins and the Fonds de solidarité FTQ.
